A secure OS providing a TEE for Android. Trusty runs on the same processor as the Android OS, but Trusty is isolated from the rest of the system by both hardware and software. Trusty and Android run parallel to each other. Trusty has access to the full power of a device’s main processor and memory but is completely isolated.

On Intel x86 platforms it uses Intel’s Virtualization Technology

Many Android-powered devices that offer NFC functionality already support NFC card emulation. In most cases, the card is emulated by a separate chip in the device, called a secure element (SE). Many SIM cards provided by wireless carriers also contain a secure element.
Android 4.4 and higher provide an additional method of card emulation that doesn't involve a secure element, called host-based card emulation (HCE). This allows any Android application to emulate a card and talk directly to the NFC reader.
